Jude Bellingham, English Hero at the FIFA World Cup 2026, With His Own Station in London
The Real Madrid midfielder was honored on the Thameslink line after scoring two goals and qualifying England for the World Cup round of 16.
Bellingham, hero against Mexico
The figure of Jude Bellingham continues to grow both on and off the field. After his brilliant performance against Mexico, where he scored two of the three goals that secured England's qualification to the round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup, the Real Madrid midfielder received an unexpected tribute in London: a train station will bear his name.
The London station that is being renovated
The Thameslink line, which connects various points in the British capital, decided to rename the Bellingham station by adding the name Jude, transforming it into "Jude Bellingham." What was initially going to be a symbolic gesture for just one day will extend until Sunday, in recognition of the impact the player had on the English victory.
A tribute that transcends football
"We inaugurated the Jude Bellingham station before the England vs. Mexico match as a nice way to cheer on our team; little did we know then that Jude would end up scoring two of the three goals in the match," the line's representatives stated to the BBC. At just 23 years old, the midfielder has established himself as a leader of Thomas Tuchel's team and as one of the most influential names in the new generation of European footballers. The "Jude Bellingham" station has become a symbol of the enthusiasm that the World Cup stirs in England and a demonstration of how sports can transcend the boundaries of the stadium to become part of urban life.
