The German Football Association officially confirmed Jürgen Klopp as the new national team coach, replacing Julian Nagelsmann. The 59-year-old coach returns to management after a two-year hiatus since leaving Liverpool, with a four-season contract that ties him to Euro 2028 and the 2030 World Cup. Germany's elimination in the round of 16 of the World Cup against Paraguay hastened the change and paved the way for a coach with experience and charisma.

A challenge with identity

Klopp did not hide his enthusiasm when taking on the role: "The national team can unite Germans like few other things. That makes this task so special for me. Now we will face it with humility and patience, developing a team that enjoys football and fights together, behind which the people of our country can stand with total conviction." The numbers support his career with 1,080 matches managed between Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool, with 588 victories. In England, he made his mark with four unbeaten seasons at Anfield and an average of 2.11 points per game, the third-best in Premier League history. In Germany, he is the coach with the most matches in charge of Dortmund and one of the few to have won the Bundesliga more than once with the club. Additionally, he is one of the nine coaches who have surpassed 100 matches in the Champions League. His debut as the German national coach will be in September, in the Nations League against the Netherlands, with Serbia and Greece as group rivals.
