Is Ancelotti giving Brazil an Italian touch? The coach reveals his World Cup plan
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup just days away, Carlo Ancelotti offered a glimpse into the identity he wants Brazil to develop under his leadership.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup just days away, Carlo Ancelotti offered a glimpse into the identity he wants Brazil to develop under his leadership.
The Italian manager revealed that his vision for the Seleção is built around combining the traditional strengths of Brazilian football with the work ethic and tactical foundations associated with Italy.
Ancelotti wants to blend two football cultures
Speaking in New Jersey, where Brazil is holding its World Cup training camp, Ancelotti explained the philosophy he hopes will guide the team throughout the tournament.
"The Brazilian style is in the genetics. The Italian style is in the work, a lot of work. I will try to combine both things," the coach said.
His comments suggest Brazil will continue to embrace its creativity, technical quality and attacking flair while adding greater organization, discipline and defensive balance.
No clear favorite for the World Cup
Ancelotti also surprised many by insisting that he does not see a single standout favorite to win the tournament.
"As of today, I don't see one favorite. There are many teams capable of competing to win it, but none stands out," he said.
According to the Brazilian coach, every contender has weaknesses, and the eventual champion will be the team that best manages to overcome them during the competition.
The mission to end a 22-year drought
Brazil enters the tournament aiming to win a sixth World Cup title and end a drought that has lasted more than two decades.
The Seleção will open Group C against Morocco on June 13 in New Jersey before facing Haiti in Philadelphia and Scotland in Miami.
Under Ancelotti's leadership, Brazil will attempt to find the perfect balance between the attacking flair that made the country famous and the tactical structure that has long defined Italian football.
