Haaland Draws Level With Messi and Mbappé at the 2026 FIFA World Cup
Erling Haaland continued his incredible scoring run with a brace against Brazil, drawing level with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé atop the scoring charts at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Norway striker remains firmly in the race for the Golden Boot.
Erling Haaland continues to prove why he is one of the world's most dangerous strikers. The Norway star scored twice in his team's stunning victory over Brazil, a result that not only secured a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinals but also moved him into a three-way tie with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé for the tournament's scoring lead.
With his latest brace, the Manchester City forward reached seven goals in the competition, strengthening his bid for the Golden Boot as the knockout stage continues.
A Historic Brace Sends Norway Through
Haaland opened the scoring in the 79th minute with a powerful header before sealing the victory just before full time with a left-footed strike from outside the box that slipped through goalkeeper Danilo's legs.

The performance further cemented his status as Norway's attacking leader, taking his international tally to 62 goals and helping the Scandinavian nation eliminate one of the tournament favorites.
The victory also produced one of the biggest surprises of the World Cup, as Brazil was knocked out before the quarterfinals while Norway continued its remarkable run in the competition.
The Golden Boot Race Heats Up
With seven goals, Erling Haaland now shares the top spot in the scoring race with Lionel Messi of Argentina and Kylian Mbappé of France, setting up what promises to be a thrilling battle for the Golden Boot.
Just behind the trio is Harry Kane of England with five goals, while Ousmane Dembélé, Mikel Oyarzabal, Vinícius Júnior, and Ismaila Sarr have each found the net four times and remain within striking distance.
