The Green Falcons return to the World Cup with an experienced core led by Salem Al-Dawsari and Saud Abdulhamid.
Saudi Arabia hopes to surprise the world once again
Saudi Arabia has officially confirmed the squad that will represent the nation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Green Falcons will look to build on the momentum created by their memorable performances in recent international tournaments.
Head coach Georgios Donis heads to North America with a group built around experienced players who have already competed on football's biggest stage and understand the demands of a World Cup campaign.
Among the standout names is Saud Abdulhamid, the Lens defender and the only player in the squad currently playing outside Saudi Arabia. Also returning is Salem Al-Dawsari, one of Asia's biggest stars, who is set to play in his third FIFA World Cup.

Player to watch
The biggest star of this Saudi Arabian team is Salem Al-Dawsari, the attacking leader of the Green Falcons and one of the most influential players in the country's football history.
The Al Hilal forward was named the 2025 AFC Player of the Year and will be appearing in his third World Cup after representing Saudi Arabia in both Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022. His creativity, leadership, and ability to deliver in big moments make him the team's most dangerous attacking weapon.
Saudi Arabia will need Al-Dawsari at his very best if it hopes to challenge some of the strongest teams in the tournament.
Donis puts his trust in experience
The squad selection reflects Georgios Donis' confidence in a generation that has accumulated significant international experience over the past several years.
Players such as Mohamed Al-Owais, Hassan Tambakti, Mohamed Kanno, and Salem Al-Dawsari have already played on the world's biggest stage and will be responsible for guiding the younger members of the squad throughout the competition.
One of the most notable omissions is Saleh Abu Alshamat, twin brother of Mohammed Abu Alshamat and a player for Al Ahli, the reigning AFC Champions League winner. However, Donis chose other options for his final roster.

Saudi Arabia faces a difficult group
The Green Falcons will face a major challenge from the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Saudi Arabia has been drawn into Group H, where it will begin its campaign against Uruguay on June 15 in Miami. Donis' side will then face Spain on June 21 in Atlanta before concluding the group stage against Cape Verde on June 26 in Houston.
While the group includes two highly respected football nations, Saudi Arabia already proved in Qatar 2022 that it can compete with anyone. With an experienced core and several established leaders, the Green Falcons will look to become one of the tournament's surprise teams once again.
