France is looking to join the greatest dynasties in history
The French team is aiming to become the third side to play in three consecutive World Cup finals, a feat previously achieved only by Germany and Brazil.
To accomplish it, Les Bleus must win their 2026 World Cup semifinal and once again secure a place in the title match.
France faces a historic opportunity
The French national team has been one of the leading forces in international soccer in recent years.
France reached the final of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where it won its second world title after defeating Croatia, and returned to the championship match at Qatar 2022.
No team has reached three consecutive finals since Brazil in 2002, giving France the opportunity to repeat a feat that has not been achieved in more than two decades.
Germany was the first to achieve it
Germany was the first team to play in three consecutive World Cup finals.
The German side reached the title match at Spain 1982, Mexico 1986 and Italy 1990.
Germany lost the first two finals to Italy and Argentina, respectively, but was finally crowned world champion in 1990 after defeating La Albiceleste.
