England World Cup 2026, Thomas Tuchel Travels to the USA With Confidence and Strategies to Overcome the Heat
Tuchel's confidence marks the beginning of the English journey, England heads to Miami with their sights set on a demanding and expectation-filled World Cup.
The Illusion of England
Thomas Tuchel, the newly appointed coach of England, made it clear that the expectations are high and the excitement is intact. The German assured that he has "belief" and "enthusiasm" that the Three Lions can go "very far" in the World Cup to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The pre-World Cup training sessions
The English delegation departs today for Miami, Florida, where they will hold a pre-camp with two scheduled friendlies before permanently settling in Kansas City on June 13, their base during the tournament. Tuchel has already finalized the list of 26 players and is putting the finishing touches on the planning, convinced that preparation will be key to facing the World Cup challenge.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the coach highlighted the quality observed in the training sessions and meetings in Florida, noting that this dynamic gives him confidence for what lies ahead. He also emphasized the connection with the players, even with those who were not called up, who sent messages of support to the team. "I eagerly look forward to getting on the plane and working with this group in the United States," he expressed.

The complication of heat and humidity
Tuchel acknowledged that the heat and humidity will be an obstacle, but clarified that they should not become excuses. England has already implemented cooling strategies and received advice from specialists and Team GB to facilitate adaptation. Additionally, the first match will be played indoors with air conditioning, which will reduce the initial climate impact.
The debut will be on June 17 against Croatia, followed by matches against Ghana and Panama in the group stage. With a young and talented squad, and a coach who instills confidence, England is preparing to face a World Cup where they aim to transform their potential into concrete results.
