England's Possible Lineup to Face Norway in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Quarterfinals
England survived a dramatic battle against Mexico to reach the quarterfinals and is expected to keep the core of its lineup intact as it prepares for another difficult test against Norway.
England looks to keep its World Cup dream alive
England is just one win away from reaching the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but standing in its way is a Norway side coming off one of the tournament's biggest upsets after eliminating Brazil.
Thomas Tuchel's squad advanced after defeating Mexico 3-2 in a thrilling Round of 16 match, showing resilience despite playing much of the second half with ten men.
With a semifinal berth on the line, England is expected to rely once again on the players who have led the team throughout the tournament.
Bellingham and Kane remain England's biggest threats
There is little doubt that Harry Kane will continue to spearhead England's attack after adding another goal to his impressive World Cup tally against Mexico.
Behind him, Jude Bellingham is expected to occupy the attacking midfield role after scoring twice in the Round of 16, while Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon should provide width and pace from the wings.
The midfield partnership of Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson is also expected to remain unchanged, giving England both defensive stability and ball progression.
Tuchel expected to trust his regular starters
Despite dealing with injuries and suspension concerns, Tuchel is not expected to make major tactical changes for the quarterfinal.
Jordan Pickford should continue in goal behind a back four of Djed Spence, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guéhi and Nico O'Reilly.
One notable absentee remains midfielder Jordan Henderson, who suffered a wrist injury following England's victory over Mexico and is expected to miss the remainder of the tournament.
England knows Norway will be a major challenge
Although England entered the knockout stage as one of the tournament favorites, Norway's victory over Brazil serves as a reminder that no opponent can be underestimated.
Containing Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard will be among England's biggest priorities as the Three Lions chase their first World Cup semifinal appearance since 2018.
With confidence growing under Tuchel and several of their biggest stars finding top form, England will be aiming to take another step toward lifting the World Cup trophy.
