England possible lineup vs Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup
The Three Lions could feature some new faces as they aim to top Group L and reaffirm their status as title contenders.
After a frustrating goalless draw with Ghana in Boston, England return to action this Saturday needing a convincing win over already-eliminated Panama in Matchday 3 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Three Lions’ goal is to secure first place in Group L at East Rutherford in New Jersey/New York, ahead of Ghana and Croatia, who meet simultaneously in Philadelphia.
Here is the expected XI from manager Thomas Tuchel, with the final in New York on July 19 in sight.
LINE-UP NEWS, INJURY AND SURPRISES
England are set to line up in a 4-2-3-1 with their strongest available XI.
Jordan Pickford starts in goal, with Ezri Konsa and Marc Guehi at centre-back. Nico O’Reilly slots in at full-back, while Trevoh Chalobah is the major surprise, set to make his tournament debut following the injury to Reece James, who is ruled out for two matches with a hamstring issue.
Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson anchor the midfield, with Jude Bellingham, Noni Madueke and Anthony Gordon supporting striker Harry Kane.
Compared to the win over Croatia, the only changes are Chalobah coming in for James, and Marc Guehi replacing John Stones, while Djed Spence drops out in favour of O’Reilly.
England created 19 chances against Ghana but failed to score, managing just four shots on target, and will now look for greater attacking sharpness to improve their goal difference.
