Just days before beginning a series of concerts in Buenos Aires, Rosalía found herself at the center of controversy after sharing a Mia Khalifa video featuring her song "La Perla", a post many Argentine fans interpreted as mocking Argentina's defeat to Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

What did Rosalía share?

The controversy began the day after the Final at MetLife Stadium in New York, when Rosalía reposted a TikTok video showing Mia Khalifa singing along to "La Perla" with the caption:

"How life sounds now that the pearls have been defeated."

Many Argentine fans interpreted the message as a reference to Spain's victory over Argentina.

The video also featured the lyrics:

"La decepción local, rompecorazones nacional, un terrorista emocional, el mayor desastre mundial. Es una perla, nadie se fía."

The post quickly sparked criticism across social media.

Rosalía apologizes

Following the backlash, both Rosalía and Mia Khalifa deleted the content from their respective accounts.

On Wednesday, the Spanish singer addressed the controversy through an Instagram Story.

"I shared it because 'La Perla' was playing and I didn't even read the caption. My bad. Sorry."

She accompanied the message with crying emojis and an Argentine flag.

Controversy comes before Buenos Aires concerts

The incident comes just days before Rosalía's four scheduled performances at Movistar Arena Buenos Aires on August 1, 2, 4 and 6 as part of her LUX world tour.

Some fans said on social media they planned to sell or return their tickets, while others defended the singer, arguing she shared the post without noticing the accompanying message.

In November 2025, Rosalía made a brief visit to Buenos Aires, where she attended a performance by Cindy Cats and appeared on a streaming channel.
