Cristiano Ronaldo Confirms That His Retirement Is Approaching: “The End of My Career Is Near”
The forward and modern football legend broke the silence about his final steps in football with the upcoming international tournaments
The end is near
Cristiano Ronaldo acknowledged that his career as a player "is coming to an end," although he assured that he continues to enjoy the competition. After scoring with a header in Al Nassr's victory over Al Ahli, which left the team with one hand on the Saudi Pro League title, the 41-year-old captain took a moment to reflect on his present and immediate future.
The ambition for greatness continues
The goal was Ronaldo's 25th league goal of the season, and the fifteenth time in his career that he has reached that figure in a championship. "My career has been brilliant, and I want it to continue being so," he stated, emphasizing that, despite the passage of time, he still finds pleasure in playing and scoring. But, he added, the most important thing is to win: Al Nassr opened an eight-point lead at the top of the tournament and has a direct clash with Al Hilal on May 12 that could crown the Saudi team.

His last World Cup
Ronaldo is also looking ahead to the summer, when he could play in his last World Cup, and he trusts the young generation of Portugal, with players like Vitinha, João Neves, Nuno Mendes, and Bruno Fernandes in good form, to try to complete the major title he lacks. Additionally, the forward maintains a personal ambition: to keep scoring goals until he reaches the figure of 1,000. With the goal against Al Ahli, he reached 970 goals, and his contract with Al Nassr expires at the end of the next season, a timeframe that could mark the end of his stint in Saudi Arabia.
