Bosnia and Herzegovina's Projected Lineup for Their FIFA World Cup 2026 Clash Against Canada
The European side returns to football’s biggest stage after stunningly eliminating Italy in qualifying and ending a 12-year absence from the FIFA World Cup.
Bosnia and Herzegovina are gearing up for their FIFA World Cup 2026 debut, where they will take on none other than Canada, one of the tournament’s three host nations.
With that in mind, here is a look at the projected lineups for this Group B clash, set to take place at Toronto Stadium in the Canadian city.
THE GAME PLAN
Bosnia and Herzegovina head coach Sergej Barbarez is expected to adopt an attacking approach, deploying a traditional 4-4-2 formation. With the importance of getting points on the board early in the tournament, the Europeans are likely to take an aggressive stance from the opening whistle.
In goal, Germany-based Nikola Vasilj of St. Pauli is set to start behind a back four featuring Amar Dedić of Benfica, Tarik Muharemović of Sassuolo, Nikola Katić of Schalke 04, and experienced defender Sead Kolašinac of Atalanta.
The midfield is projected to include Amar Memić of Viktoria Plzeň, promising youngster Benjamin Tahirović of Arsenal, Ivan Šunjić of Pafos, and Kerim Alajbegović of Red Bull Salzburg.
Leading the attack are Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirović and veteran forward Edin Džeko, who continues to be one of the most influential figures in Bosnian football.
LOOKING TO EXTEND THE STREAK
Bosnia and Herzegovina enter the tournament on an eight-match unbeaten run and will be eager to keep that momentum going on Canadian soil. Both sides will be aiming to reach the World Cup knockout stage for the first time, adding even more significance to this highly anticipated Group B encounter.
