Arsene Wenger Names the Only Team That Could Be Capable of Stopping France's Run in the FIFA World Cup 2026
The historic French coach assured that Deschamps' team is unstoppable, unless La Roja manages to impose their collective game.
France, an unstoppable train
France is advancing steadily in the 2026 World Cup, and for Arsène Wenger, Didier Deschamps' machinery seems unstoppable. The legendary former Arsenal coach, 76 years old, stated that the French are the main contenders for the title after the convincing performances of Kylian Mbappé and company in their first five matches, before the quarter-final clash against Morocco in Boston
The unflinching analysis
In a guest appearance on the Felix and Toni Kroos podcast, Wenger explained that his analysis is not due to a nationalist bias, but rather to the technical quality that France displays on the field. "France is going to win the World Cup. I know they will say I say this because I am French. But when you analyze the tournament, the train is moving at a certain speed today. And you have to be able to get on that train," he stated.

Spain, the only threat
The former coach ruled out that England, Morocco, or even Argentina have the tools to stop the defending champions. In his view, only Spain, under the leadership of Luis de la Fuente, possesses the collective identity and tactical maturity necessary to complicate the French. "For me, the real uncertainty is Spain. If any team can beat France right now, I would say it is Spain. Because they have a superior technical level and a collective playing culture that no one else in the world has at the moment," emphasized Wenger.
