VINICIUS STEALS THE SHOW

Vinicius Junior capitalized on Scotland’s defensive mistakes and the nerves of a side lacking recent World Cup experience.

In the seventh minute, Vinícius opened the scoring after Scott McKenna lost possession in a dangerous area. Rayan pounced on the mistake and quickly fed Vinícius, who used his skill and composure to beat Angus Gunn and put Brazil in front.

The Real Madrid star thought he had a second goal in the 22nd minute after another Scottish error, this time from Jack Hendry. However, after a VAR review, Mexican referee César Arturo Ramos ruled the goal out for a foul in the buildup.

Vinícius eventually completed his brace deep into first-half stoppage time (45+3’), rising at the far post to head home a pinpoint cross from Bruno Guimaraes.

With goals in all three group-stage matches, Vinícius was once again Brazil’s difference-maker.

FROM BRUNO TO MATHEUS CUNHA

Matheus Cunha found the net for the second consecutive World Cup match after being gifted a perfect assist by Bruno Guimaraes, arguably Brazil’s standout performer on the night.

Just as Scotland were beginning to show signs of life, Bruno’s vision and composure unlocked the defense, setting up Cunha to deliver the decisive finish and extend Brazil’s lead.

NEYMAR RETURNS

Some moments are bigger than the result, and Neymar’s entrance in the 76th minute was one of them.

The Brazilian legend and all-time leading scorer replaced Matheus Cunha to make his long-awaited return to the Selecao, drawing a thunderous ovation from the crowd in Miami. Fans rose to their feet to welcome back their idol as he stepped onto the World Cup stage once again.
