What injury does Ousmane Dembélé have and how long will he be out for PSG? Will he play in the Club World Cup?
French forward Ousmane Dembélé left the France squad this Friday ahead of the Nations League third-place match against Germany on Sunday. The Paris Saint-Germain player will miss the start of the Club World Cup, including their highly anticipated debut against Atlético de Madrid.
Muscle injury and a key absence
Dembélé picked up a quad injury in his left leg, and he's expected to be out for about two to three weeks. He’ll undergo further tests on Saturday to get a clearer picture of how serious it is.
It’s pretty much confirmed that he won’t be ready for the game against Atlético de Madrid on June 15 in Los Angeles, just a day after the tournament kicks off. His availability for the second match, against Botafogo on June 20, is also up in the air.
Another France player out: Barcola
Meanwhile, Bradley Barcola also left the France squad, but in his case, it’s not too serious. He picked up a minor knock and went back to PSG as a precaution. His chances of playing in the Club World Cup aren’t in doubt for now. Didier Deschamps has decided not to call up any replacements, sticking with the squad he already has to finish the tournament.
