Sergio Ramos sends a message to Mastantuono: "Madrid is the best place to see if you'll become a star or not."
One of the standout stars of the upcoming Club World Cup is none other than Sergio Ramos. The veteran Spanish defender, who recently joined Monterrey, spoke at length ahead of the team debut and didn’t shy away from any topic. From his expectations for the tournament to his thoughts on Real Madrid newest signing, Ramos left plenty of headlines.
A Trusted Voice When It Comes to Real Madrid
Although he now wears a different jersey, Ramos remains a respected authority when it comes to Real Madrid. With 22 titles under his belt during his time at the club, the Andalusian defender left an indelible mark on its history.
On Mastantuono Signing
When asked about the arrival of Franco Mastantuono to the Spanish giants, Ramos was full of praise:
“It’s true there’s no doubt about the talent the kid has. He shows a lot of promise. I wish him the best, especially now that he’s heading to Real Madrid. I think it’s the perfect place to find out whether someone becomes a true star or not.”
Ramos will get the chance to face the young midfielder in the group stage, when Monterrey takes on River Plate.
It’s worth noting that Mastantuono will officially join Real Madrid on August 14, once he turns 18. To secure the signing, the club agreed to pay his release clause in installments, with a total fee exceeding $69 million, making him the most expensive sale in Argentine football history.
Monterrey Ambitions in the Tournament
Ramos also shared his thoughts on Monterrey role in the Club World Cup:
“Any detail, whether in attack or defense, can be decisive. We have to make the most of every second every game, every training session and from there, try to go as far as possible. Competing with dignity and honor is the minimum this club expects from us.”
The Spanish defender is clearly motivated to make an impact with Rayados. And soon, he’ll witness firsthand Franco Mastantuono potential, giving him a front-row seat to see if his former club, Real Madrid, made the right move in signing the young talent.
