Seattle Sounders vs Psg: Date, Times and Everything You Need to Know About the Big Match at the Club World Cup
When and where it will be played
This Monday, Group B of the 2025 Club World Cup will be defined and one of them is Seattle Sounders vs. Paris Saint Germain (PSG) at Seattle's Lumen Field with Chilean Cristian Garay as referee.
Seattle Preview
The Americans, with Argentine Pedro De la Vega as the star player, lost their two previous matches but still have a slim chance of qualifying for the next stage. To do so, they must beat the Champions League 2024-2025 champion (by at least four goals) and Botafogo must beat Atlético Madrid in the match that will be played at the same time at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles.
Nor has playing all their matches at home been an advantage for the Seattle Sounders. Drawn in arguably the toughest group in the tournament, they took the day off last Friday to gather their strength and try to pull off the impossible miracle of beating European champions PSG by a comfortable margin and hoping Botafogo beats Atletico Madrid. The big incentive for Schmetzer's men is to bid farewell to the FIFA tournament with a major victory, one of the most important in their history, in front of their home fans, against the best team in Europe. To achieve this, players like the talented Pedro de la Vega, who has been inconsistent so far, or the verticality of Rusnak and Musovski will have to step up to the plate tonight.
Paris St. Germain preview
Luis Enrique team lost their previous match against Fogao 1-0 and finished second in the standings with three points, the same amount as El Colchonero but above them because they beat them 4-0 in the match between them. The French depend on themselves to advance to the round of 16 and will do so if they defeat Seattle because, in a hypothetical tie with Brazilians and Spaniards on six points, they have a goal difference of +3 in the head-to-head matches. If they draw, they depend on Aleti not beating Botafogo and, if they lose, they will depend on a Brazilian victory to remain in the title race.
PSG know that the math is much simpler than it seems. Victory qualifies them for the round of 16. But if there is a team, despite having changed its history in Europe recently, capable of getting into a mess, it is the capital club, accustomed to unsuspected setbacks during the last decade in the top continental competition. Fabian, Barcola, Mendes and Joao Neves, substitutes against Botafogo, should return to the starting lineup. Luis Enrique will use all his artillery, including Dembélé, to avoid a scare against the weakest opponent in the group, which was thrilling until the last second of the last match.
The teams from Group B that qualify for the round of 16 will meet opponents from Group A, which is led by Palmeiras and Inter Miami with four points. Porto of Portugal and Al-Ahly of Egypt have one unit and maintain their chances of reaching the next stage.
