PSG’s squad value doubles Atlético de Madrid’s ahead of their 2025 Club World Cup clash
Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético de Madrid are the two Champions League teams that spent the most on transfers a year ago to boost their squads, and this Sunday they’ll face off in the Club World Cup. The French side’s squad is worth around €1.054 billion, while the Spanish team is valued at €506 million. Forward Julián Álvarez is the most valuable player on both teams, with a market value of €100 million.
Key players and squad differences
No player in PSG matches Álvarez’s €100 million price tag, but the French club has several players valued at around €90 million, like Kvicha Kvaratskhelia (signed from Napoli for €70 million in January), Ousmane Dembélé, and Desiré Doué, a 20-year-old who had an impressive season with 15 goals and 14 assists. Meanwhile, Atlético de Madrid only has two players worth over €50 million: Pablo Barrios at €55 million and Álvarez himself.
Besides those, Atlético counts on players valued over €40 million like defender Robin Le Normand and midfielder Conor Gallagher, who joined from Real Sociedad and Chelsea respectively a year ago. On the other side, PSG has ten players worth more than €50 million, including fullbacks like Achraf Hakimi (€80 million) and Nuno Mendes (€70 million), as well as midfielders Vitinha and Joao Neves (both at €80 million).
Squad value balance at the Club World Cup
The lowest valued player in Atlético de Madrid’s squad is César Azpilicueta, worth €1.5 million at 36 years old. For PSG, the least valued player is young defender Noham Kamara, 18 years old, valued at €0.5 million.
This big difference shows PSG’s financial muscle, investing heavily in transfers and young talent to dominate Europe and beyond. Meanwhile, Atlético de Madrid, led by Diego Simeone, focuses on balancing experience and youth but with a more modest squad value.
