PSG Ends Messi and Inter Miami’s Dream, Asserts Dominance at the Club World Cup
The Club World Cup 2025 journey is over for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami. In a high-stakes match filled with emotional reunions, Paris Saint-Germain showed no mercy and stormed to a commanding 4–0 win, eliminating the MLS side and securing a spot in the quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of Flamengo vs Bayern Munich.
PSG Seals the Game in the First Half
It took just 45 minutes for PSG to take full control. A brace from João Neves, a goal from Achraf Hakimi, and an own goal by Tomás Avilés sent the French side into halftime with a 4–0 lead.
Luis Enrique’s men were dominant from the opening whistle, pressing high, keeping possession, and executing lightning-fast transitions that overwhelmed Inter Miami’s defense.
Inter Miami Tries to Respond, but It’s Too Late
Despite the heavy scoreline, Javier Mascherano’s team—featuring Messi, Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba—pushed forward in the second half.
But by then, PSG had eased off, managing the game comfortably. Inter Miami couldn’t create clear chances or get Messi into dangerous positions, and the comeback never materialized.
This match was full of callbacks to the FC Barcelona glory days. On one side: Luis Enrique and Ousmane Dembélé in charge of PSG. On the other: Messi, Suárez, Busquets, Alba, and Mascherano wearing Inter Miami colors.
It was a symbolic crossroads—Barcelona’s past stars up against a rejuvenated PSG fueled by youth and ambition.
Dembélé came off the bench in the second half, marking his Club World Cup debut after recovering from a left quadriceps injury.

Is PSG the Best Team in the Tournament?
So far, all signs point to yes. With a deep, talented squad, attacking versatility, and a manager experienced in short-format competitions, PSG has made a strong case as the team to beat.
While Inter Miami’s dream has come to an end, Paris Saint-Germain continues to march forward—firmly staking its claim as the top contender for the Club World Cup 2025 crown.
