Mbappé Still Out: Real Madrid Won’t Risk Him Against Salzburg
Kylian Mbappé has yet to make his official debut for Real Madrid in the Club World Cup. Despite partially rejoining team training in Palm Beach this week, the French striker will once again be left out of Xabi Alonso’s squad for their third match of the tournament, this time against Red Bull Salzburg.
The forward, sidelined by acute gastroenteritis, has lost weight and is not yet fully fit, keeping him out of the matches against Al Hilal, Pachuca, and now the Austrian side. Although he completed a gym session on Tuesday and trained with the group on Wednesday, the coaching staff decided not to take any risks.
Key Absences for Xabi Alonso in a Crucial Match
In addition to Mbappé, Spanish manager Xabi Alonso will also be without young center-back Raúl Asencio, who is suspended after receiving a red card just seven minutes into the last match against Pachuca. His position in the lineup will likely be filled by Aurélien Tchouaméni or the recently recovered Antonio Rüdiger, who returned to action after overcoming an external meniscus injury in his left knee suffered in late April.

Injuries continue to affect the Los Blancos squad. Dani Carvajal, Éder Militão, David Alaba, and Eduardo Camavinga remain unavailable as they work on regaining match fitness following various long-term issues.
For this third match at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Real Madrid's squad features stars like Thibaut Courtois, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Jr., Rodrygo, and Fede Valverde, along with promising talents such as Gonzalo, Víctor Muñoz, and Turkish youngster Arda Güler, who continues to gain playing time under Xabi Alonso.
With a spot in the knockout stage already secured, the clash with Salzburg offers a chance to rotate the squad and fine-tune tactics. Meanwhile, Madrid fans will have to wait a bit longer to witness Mbappé’s long-awaited debut in white on the international stage.
