Juventus Suffers Key Loss Ahead of Real Madrid Showdown
With a spot in the Round of 16 already secured, Real Madrid returned to Palm Beach and resumed training on Friday with its sights set on the upcoming challenge: a knockout clash against Juventus in the Club World Cup, scheduled for Monday, July 1 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Training took place at The Gardens North County District Park, where the starters from the 3–0 win over Salzburg focused on recovery work, combining gym exercises and light on-field activity without the ball. Meanwhile, the substitutes went through a more demanding session, which included offensive and defensive drills, small-sided games, and shooting practice.
The big highlight was the presence of Kylian Mbappé, who continues working with the team after recovering from a severe bout of gastroenteritis. The French striker, who has yet to make his debut in this edition of the tournament, could be cleared to play in time for the match against the Italian side — great news for Carlo Ancelotti.
Juventus suffers key loss ahead of Real Madrid showdown
Meanwhile, the outlook is far less positive for Juventus. Promising young center-back Nicolò Savona has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament after picking up an injury in the match against Manchester City. The 22-year-old suffered a serious trauma to his left ankle, and subsequent scans revealed a high-grade capsuloligamentous injury.

The Italian club announced that Savona has already begun his rehabilitation program but won’t be re-evaluated for at least a month — making him unavailable for the upcoming match against Real Madrid. A product of the club’s youth system, he had started all three group stage games in the center of a back three.
Since the arrival of Igor Tudor on the bench, Savona transitioned from playing as a right-back to a central role in the defense, adapting quickly and becoming a key figure. In his absence, experienced defender Federico Gatti is expected to step in and take his place in the backline.
The matchup between Real Madrid and Juventus promises to be one of the most exciting ties of the Round of 16, with two European giants set to battle it out on U.S. soil.
