Juventus Coach Blasts Manchester City Spending After 5–2 Defeat
Igor Tudor didn’t hold back after his team was crushed 5-2 by Manchester City. The Juventus coach pointed to the money gap and admitted there’s no comparison between the two clubs.
Manchester City dominates with quality and depth
Igor Tudor, head coach of Juventus, admitted that his team had no answers for Manchester City after suffering a 5–2 defeat in the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup. Though the Italian side had already qualified to the knockout rounds, they were no match for the reigning English champions.
“It's a bad feeling after the match. Conceding five goals is never a good sign. We rotated the squad because we were already qualified, but they played incredibly well,” said Tudor to DAZN. “Their pressing didn’t let us breathe. We couldn’t get out.”
Juventus scored only once from a mistake by Ederson, and their second goal came in the dying moments when the result was already sealed.
Tudor accepts the reality of facing the world’s best
The Croatian manager didn’t hesitate to point out the massive financial power Manchester City holds, suggesting it’s a major reason why clubs like Juventus can’t compete on even ground.
“They spend millions whenever they want. They have players who are simply better than ours,” said Tudor. “I’m not looking for excuses, but many things have to go right to beat a team like that.”
He also praised Pep Guardiola and his squad. “We’re talking about the best team in the world, with the best coach in the world. There’s nobody better than them. I have nothing to criticize my players for. Football is like this sometimes.”
Despite the loss, Juventus will move on to the next round, but the result was a harsh reminder of how far they remain from the top. Tudor will now have to regroup quickly and prepare his team for a tougher road ahead.
