Jobe Bellingham Withdraws from U21 Euros to Play in FIFA Club World Cup with Dortmund
The young English talent prioritizes his new international challenge with Borussia Dortmund after completing a $40 million transfer.

Jobe Bellingham, Borussia Dortmund newest signing, has decided to withdraw from England U21 squad for the UEFA European Championship in order to join his new club at the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 14 in the United States.
The decision comes shortly after Sunderland officially confirmed his transfer to the Bundesliga giants for a reported fee of $40 million. By doing so, Jobe follows in the footsteps of his older brother, Jude Bellingham, who is already a star at Real Madrid and made a similar early breakthrough on the international stage.
Strategic Move Backed by National Team Coach
Although Bellingham was named in England squad for the tournament starting this Wednesday in Slovakia, head coach Lee Carsley had given players permission to step down if they were called up for the Club World Cup.
Jobe choice highlights his commitment to his new club and his ambition to compete at the highest level from the outset.
Key Role in Sunderland Promotion
At just 19, Jobe played a crucial role in Sunderland return to the Premier League after years in the lower divisions. His standout performance against Sheffield United in the playoff was instrumental to their success. Since joining from Birmingham City in 2023, he has made 90 appearances for the club.
This season, he was named Young Player of the Year in the Championship and earned a spot in the league Team of the Season.
A Bright Future Ahead
With international potential and a last name already synonymous with top level football, Jobe Bellingham is emerging as one of Europe brightest young prospects. The Club World Cup will be a major stage for him to show the world that he’s ready to compete at the elite level.
