El Flaco Pastore Reveals His Star Picks for the FIFA Club World Cup
The former PSG midfielder shares his thoughts on the French team and names the players he believes will shine at the 2025 Club World Cup.
Pastore Backs PSG as Top Contenders
Speaking from Los Angeles, Javier “El Flaco” Pastore made it clear: Paris Saint-Germain is arriving at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in peak form and should be considered one of the main favorites to win the title. At a club-hosted event in the PSG House on Melrose, the Argentine — who spent seven seasons in Paris — expressed his excitement about seeing the team compete on U.S. soil.
“They’ve won everything in France and just lifted the Champions League. I think they’re one of the teams to beat,” said Pastore, who was part of the early days of the Qatar Sports Investments era. “I lived the project from the beginning. Watching them win the Champions League after 14 years is something that makes all of us who were involved feel proud,” he added.
Doué and Dembélé, PSG’s Key Offensive Weapons
When asked to predict standout players in the tournament, Pastore opted to highlight two specific names: Ousmane Dembélé and Desire Doué.
“Dembélé has been the breakout star this season. His stats, his performance, and the fact that he’s won everything — he’s at a very high level. I think he’ll be PSG’s top scorer in the tournament,” said the former midfielder. He also praised Doué, calling him a key part of the team’s Champions League success. “He’s a player I really like. He was crucial in winning the Champions League and I believe he’ll show that quality here too.”

With a star-studded squad, a newly secured European title, and the perfect blend of emerging talents like Doué and experienced players like Dembélé, Paris Saint-Germain enters the revamped Club World Cup as a top contender.
Now acting as a club ambassador, Pastore will follow the team closely during their time in the United States, confident that PSG is ready to make history once again.
