Bellingham Could Miss Start of Season After Club World Cup Surgery
Jude Bellingham was the standout performer in Real Madrid's recent win over Pachuca at the 2025 Club World Cup, scoring the opening goal and earning Man of the Match honors.
But shortly after the match, the English star made a surprising revelation that could affect the team’s plans for the start of the new season.
Shoulder Surgery Confirmed
In the post-match press conference, Bellingham confirmed that he will undergo shoulder surgery immediately after the tournament, which wraps up on July 13 in the United States.
"I’ll get the surgery done once the Club World Cup is over. I’m done playing with the shoulder strap—I think it’s time to be free," he stated.
The midfielder has reportedly played for months with discomfort in his left shoulder, and this procedure aims to correct the issue permanently.
Estimated Recovery Timeline
Although Real Madrid has not released an official timeline for his return, early reports suggest that Bellingham could miss part of the 2025-26 preseason, and potentially the opening fixtures of LaLiga.
Recovery times vary depending on the severity of the procedure, but such surgeries often require several weeks of rehab before a player is cleared for full training.

Leadership Amid Adversity
Despite the looming absence, Bellingham remained upbeat about the squad’s performance, especially after Marco Asensio was sent off early in the match:
“It was a test of our leadership... Courtois was fantastic and we were clinical when it mattered.”
Real Madrid will now monitor the midfielder’s recovery closely, hoping to have him back in top form as soon as possible.
