(VIDEO) All Goals From PSG vs Inter Miami in the FIFA Club World Cup
This Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain lived up to its status as tournament favorite with a resounding 4-0 win over Inter Miami in the Round of 16 at the FIFA Club World Cup—a clash full of reunions and pre-match anticipation. The game took place at the spectacular Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where over 70,000 fans witnessed a true football masterclass from the reigning European champions.
Under the guidance of Luis Enrique, PSG showed no mercy in a dominant first half. During the opening 45 minutes, the Parisian side unleashed relentless pressure, leaving Inter Miami overwhelmed in defense and unable to react. Despite the buzz around Lionel Messi facing his former club, PSG’s dominance erased any sentimental subplot.
The buildup: Reunions and a footballing lesson
The match drew attention long before kickoff by reuniting several legendary figures on the pitch. Luis Enrique was face to face with former Barcelona stars like Messi, Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Mascherano, now coaching the American side. What seemed like a celebratory reunion quickly turned into a tactical and technical showcase by PSG.
João Neves stole the show with a brilliant brace. His first goal came from a cross by Vitinha, and the second followed a slick team move involving Fabián Ruiz and Bradley Barcola. Tomás Avilés added an own goal from a Désiré Doué cross, and Achraf Hakimi rounded out the scoreline after capitalizing on a rebound.
Javier Mascherano had warned before the match that if his team let PSG control the tempo, they would suffer—and his fears came true. Inter Miami barely crossed midfield during the first half.
Messi tried to lead a comeback, but it was too late
In the second half, Inter Miami showed more fight. With greater possession and pride, they searched for a consolation goal, with Messi as the main creative force. The Argentine had several chances, set up Luis Suárez, and came close to scoring with a free kick, but Donnarumma and the PSG defense held firm.
Ousmane Dembélé, recently recovered from injury, made his tournament debut and played a role in the win, facing many former teammates from his Barcelona days.

The result sends PSG through to the quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of Bayern Munich vs Flamengo on July 5.
