(VIDEO) All Goals from Crystal Palace vs Manchester City in the FA Cup Final
Crystal Palace wrote a golden chapter in its history by winning its first-ever title in 164 years, defeating Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley in front of more than 84,000 spectators. The team led by Oliver Glasner pulled off an unforgettable feat, stopping Pep Guardiola’s men, who end the season without a single trophy for the first time since 2017.

The London side showed more intensity, greater hunger, and was backed by a monumental performance from Dean Henderson, who was key not only with his saves but also by stopping a penalty that could have changed the course of the match. His performance was vital in helping the Eagles resist City’s attempts, who failed to capitalize on their dominance in possession and shots.

The only goal of the match came in the 16th minute. A perfectly executed counterattack began with a run from Jean-Philippe Mateta, who played the ball wide to Colombian full-back Daniel Muñoz. Muñoz delivered a pinpoint cross that found Eberechi Eze inside the box, and the Palace No. 10 finished clinically to beat Stefan Ortega, sending the Palace fans into raptures.
Later, Muñoz appeared again with a great finish that would have made it 2-0, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review ruled it offside. Nevertheless, Glasner’s team held firm and withstood City’s pressure, who never recovered from the early blow.
Beyond the goal, individual performances stood out: Henderson, a former United goalkeeper, saved a penalty from Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush in a moment that stunned many, especially with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland still on the pitch. Henderson, who has saved over 40% of the penalties he’s faced in his career, delivered once again when it mattered most.
Crystal Palace not only ended a long wait but confirmed the impressive work of Glasner, who has transformed the team since arriving in February 2024, steering them clear of relegation and now leading them to historic silverware.
On the other side, Manchester City closes out a disappointing campaign, having been knocked out early in the Premier League title race, the Champions League, and the League Cup. Their only consolation is securing a top-five finish to stay in European competition next season.
