Calendar Adjustment: The Copa Del Rey Final at la Cartuja Moved Forward Seven Days
La RFEF y LaLiga acuerdan mover la fecha de la final en La Cartuja para evitar el colapso organizativo y logĂstico en la capital andaluza.
Spanish football's biggest party will have to update its calendar. The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), with the consensus of LaLiga, has decided to move the Copa del Rey final forward by one week; it was initially scheduled for April 25th at La Cartuja Stadium
Rafael Louzán, an RFEF official, confirmed this Saturday that the change is practically a reality: 'There is a high probability that the previous weekend will be the definitive date,' he explained. This adjustment is a response to an unprecedented logistical puzzle in Seville.
The "Betis Factor" and the Hotel Collapse
The main reason for this move is the unique situation of Real Betis, which is playing its home matches at La Cartuja this season. As they remain active in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Europa League, managing the stadium has become extremely complex. "It is the first time these circumstances have coincided, and the Betis schedule makes the organization difficult," Louzán noted.
In addition to the sporting aspect, there are two critical factors that have forced the search for an alternative:
- Security: More than 1,200 accommodation spots are required for the State security forces, which are essential to cover an event of this magnitude.
- Hotel Capacity: The overlap with other massive events in the Seville metropolitan area put the lodging of both the fans and the security operations at risk.
Full Agreement with LaLiga
Despite the tight European calendar, there is total harmony between the Federation and the league's governing body. Both institutions are already working to fit the match into the weekend of April 18th. "We are in agreement; the exact date and time will be confirmed in the coming weeks," the official concluded.
