The first leg of the playoff round offers both clubs an opportunity to move one step closer to the Round of 16 in South America's second-most prestigious club competition.
The Colombian side will aim to capitalize on home-field advantage before traveling to Venezuela, while the visitors hope to keep the series level and put themselves in a strong position for the decisive second leg.
Santa Fe Look to Capitalize on Home Advantage
Santa Fe reached this stage after finishing third in their Copa Libertadores group, earning a place in the Copa Sudamericana playoffs. Although they fell short against Corinthians and Platense in the group stage, the Bogotá club now has another opportunity to make a deep run on the continental stage.
Domestically, Santa Fe also came close to reaching the Liga BetPlay final but were eliminated by Junior de Barranquilla in a dramatic penalty shootout during the semifinals. Now, they will look to turn the page and use the support of their home fans to gain an early advantage.
Caracas Aim to Continue Their Strong Continental Campaign
On the other side, Caracas FC secured their playoff spot after finishing second in Group E of the Copa Sudamericana, trailing only Botafogo. The Venezuelan club advanced ahead of Racing Club, one of the tournament's recent champions, proving they are capable of competing against top opposition.
With that confidence, Caracas FC will travel to Bogotá hoping to secure a favorable result before hosting the return leg next week.
