Live!: Corinthians vs. Rosario Central in the 2026 Copa Libertadores on beIN SPORTS

Everything will be decided in São Paulo. After a 0-0 draw in the first leg at the Gigante de Arroyito, Corinthians and Rosario Central meet again this Thursday, August 20, this time at the Neo Química Arena, with a place in the quarterfinals on the line.

The equation is simple: the winner advances. If the match is level again after 90 minutes, qualification will be decided directly by a penalty shootout.

Corinthians Trust Their Home-Field Advantage

Corinthians accomplished what they wanted in Rosario: they survived a difficult match and returned to Brazil with the tie completely open.

It was not easy. Timão finished the first leg with 10 men following Allan’s red card in the second half, but managed to preserve the 0-0 draw and will now have the opportunity to decide the tie in front of their own fans.

Fernando Diniz’s team enjoyed a strong group stage in the Copa Libertadores, finishing top of their group with 11 points, eight goals scored and four conceded.

However, they enter this match after suffering a 2-1 home defeat against Cruzeiro in the Brasileirão, and their recent results have been inconsistent.

Now the scenario will be completely different. At the Neo Química Arena, Corinthians will have to take greater control of the match and find the goal that eluded them during the first 90 minutes of the tie.

Rosario Central Arrive in Strong Form

Rosario Central were unable to take advantage of playing at home in the first leg, but once again showed why they have been one of the most difficult teams to break down in this edition of the tournament.

El Canalla conceded only one goal throughout the group stage and collected 13 points, a total that allowed them to reach the Round of 16 for the first time since 2016.

In addition, Jorge Almirón’s team enter the match unbeaten in their last five competitive games, with three wins and two draws. Their most recent result was a 1-0 away victory over Barracas Central in Argentina’s Torneo Clausura.

Now they will have to try to do in Brazil what they could not accomplish in Rosario: score.

The experience of Ángel Di María could be crucial in a match where space will likely be difficult to find. The Argentine will be one of El Canalla’s main weapons as they attempt to hurt Corinthians on their own turf.

A Rivalry That Has Already Gone to Penalties

There is a particularly interesting previous meeting between these two teams.

Corinthians and Rosario Central faced each other in a Copa Libertadores knockout tie back in 2000. Central won 3-2 in Rosario, Corinthians responded with the same scoreline in São Paulo, and qualification had to be decided from the penalty spot, with the Brazilian side eventually advancing.

Twenty-six years later, they meet again with neither team holding an advantage after the opening match.

Timão will have their fans behind them and the opportunity to decide the tie at home.

El Canalla arrive with one of the strongest defenses in the tournament and will be looking to deliver a major result in Brazil.

Tonight, there is no margin for error.
