Jorginho and His Historic Trophy Cabinet: Euro, Champions League and Now the Copa Libertadores
A title, a stadium and a different country for each glory: that’s how Jorginho has built a career that now enters the great history of world football.
Historic Jorginho: The Triple Crown No One Had Ever Achieved
The Copa Libertadores final not only crowned Flamengo as continental champions. It also marked an unprecedented milestone in Jorginho’s career, as he became the first footballer in history to lift the Champions League, the European Championship and the Copa Libertadores. An achievement that defines a player whose journey has been as improbable as it is extraordinary.
Born in Imbituba (Brazil), developed as a footballer in Italy, and established between Europe and South America, Jorginho embodies in his career three continents, three styles and three titles no other player has ever combined. His path began far from the spotlight, moving to Italy at age 15 to debut for Hellas Verona in 2010. That teenager dreaming of breaking into Serie A eventually reached the absolute summit of the sport.
From Porto to Wembley… and Now to South America
His first major peak arrived on May 29, 2021, when he won the Champions League with Chelsea against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City (0–1 in Porto). That season established him as one of Europe’s most influential midfielders, a key figure in the club’s continental triumph and tactical structure.
Just weeks later, on July 11, 2021, he touched the sky with his national team: Italy won the European Championship at Wembley after defeating England on penalties. Already a leader of the azzurra, Jorginho capped the most successful year of his career.
His European résumé continued to grow with Chelsea — Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup — before signing for Arsenal. But in 2025, he made an unexpected decision: returning to Brazil to play for Flamengo.
The Night That Took Him to Immortality
On Saturday, Flamengo defeated Palmeiras 0–1, and Jorginho lifted the Copa Libertadores, completing the most exclusive triple crown in football. No player had ever combined these three major titles from club and international football across continents.
At 33 years old, Jorginho no longer needs anything to validate his impact. His story is pure history: that of a player who left Santa Catarina, conquered Europe and returned home to join a club to which only he belongs.
A champion in every language of football. A truly unique player.
