Historic: Palmeiras Comes Back Against Liga de Quito and Reaches the Copa Libertadores Final To Face Flamengo!
Palmeiras lived a night that will be remembered forever in the history of the Copa Libertadores. In a roaring Allianz Parque, Abel Ferreira’s side completed an epic comeback, overturning the 3-0 defeat from Quito to beat Liga de Quito 4-3 on aggregate. A feat worthy of the great nights of South American football, sealing the “Verdão’s” ticket to the grand final against Flamengo.
A furious start in São Paulo
From the opening whistle, Palmeiras set the pace with relentless pressure that left the Ecuadorian defense gasping for air. The intensity promised by Ferreira was evident in every play, as the stadium erupted with hope for a miracle.
The breakthrough came in the 20th minute: Ramón Sosa connected with a pinpoint cross from Allan Elias and headed home to ignite the stands. The Brazilian side kept pushing and created multiple chances, including a clear one from Vitor Roque, denied heroically by Richard Mina.

As the first half was coming to an end, Bruno Fuchs struck the second goal after a set-piece play. Vitor Roque controlled the ball inside the box, and after a defensive scramble, Fuchs tapped it in. The 2-0 before halftime sent the Allianz Parque into a frenzy and left Liga de Quito on the ropes.
The miracle completed
The second half turned into an emotional battle. Palmeiras needed just one more goal to level the series, and the tension grew with every attack. In the 68th minute, Raphael Veiga coolly found the equalizer after a perfect assist from Vitor Roque, who sent the ball across the box for him to finish.
But the “Verdão” wasn’t done yet. With the crowd roaring, Allan Andrade drove into the box and drew a foul from Carlos Gruezo, earning a penalty. Raphael Veiga, once again, took responsibility and blasted a left-footed shot straight down the middle to make it 4-3 in the 82nd minute.
When the referee blew the final whistle, São Paulo exploded in celebration. Palmeiras had completed one of the most remarkable comebacks in recent tournament history, toppling a Liga de Quito side that simply couldn’t resist the green storm. Now, Abel Ferreira’s team will chase continental glory against Flamengo, in what promises to be another legendary Copa Libertadores final.
