Racing Crushes Bucaramanga to Take Control of Group E
Racing Club delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday night in Colombia, thrashing Atlético Bucaramanga 0-4 to take the top spot in Group E of the Copa Libertadores, moving one step closer to the round of 16.
Under the guidance of Gustavo Costas, the Argentine side took control from the start. Just four minutes in, Adrián Martínez capitalized on a defensive mistake to open the scoring. Racing kept up the pressure and delivered the knockout blows in the second half.

Santiago Solari made it 0-2 in the 56th minute, and Santiago Sosa extended the lead further in the 69th. In stoppage time, Martín Barrios sealed the rout with a fourth goal in the 94th minute, completing a commanding victory for “La Academia.”
The hosts, coached by Leonel Álvarez, offered little threat throughout the match. Their best chance came from a free kick taken by Argentine midfielder Fabián Sambueza, which hit the post.
With the win, Racing moves up to 7 points and now leads the group. Bucaramanga remains on 5 points and may drop to third place depending on the outcome of Tuesday’s match between Fortaleza (5 points) and Colo Colo (2 points) in Brazil.
Looking ahead to the next round, Racing will host Colo Colo on May 14, while Fortaleza will take on Bucaramanga on May 13. The group remains wide open, but Racing’s emphatic win has put them firmly in the driver’s seat.
