Inter Comes from Behind Against Bahia and Advances to The Libertadores Round of 16 as Group F Leaders
Internacional of Porto Alegre secured a crucial victory on Wednesday, defeating fellow Brazilian side Bahia 2-1 in the final matchday of the Copa Libertadores group stage. The win allowed the "Colorado" to clinch the top spot in Group F with 11 points, overtaking Atlético Nacional, who lost 1-0 to Nacional of Uruguay.
Inter comes from behind to beat Bahia and secures first place in Group F
Coached by Eduardo Coudet, Inter had to overcome several key absences, including star striker Enner Valencia and goalkeeper Sergio Rochet. However, the return of Colombian forward Rafael Santos Borré proved vital. After being sidelined for a month due to injury, Borré returned with a goal and an assist.

Bahia, needing a win to keep their hopes of direct qualification alive, struck first in the 53rd minute through Jean Lucas, who capitalized on a rebound left by keeper Anthoni after a shot by Willian José. But their lead didn’t last long.
Just four minutes later, substitute Vitinho leveled the match with a composed finish following a well-worked play involving Alan Patrick and Borré. The game remained balanced until the 77th minute, when Borré sealed the comeback with a powerful header after a cross from Wesley.
Internacional held firm against Bahia's late pressure, particularly from Michel Araújo, who led several dangerous attacks. Despite seven minutes of stoppage time, Bahia couldn’t find the equalizer.
With this result, Inter advances to the Round of 16 as Group F leader with 11 points. Atlético Nacional, already qualified, finishes second with 9 points, while Bahia ends third with 7 and will now have to compete in the Copa Sudamericana playoffs to stay alive in international competition.
Clinching the top spot in the group is a major boost for Inter, who, despite adversity, continue to show they're contenders for South America's most prestigious club tournament.
