Fortaleza thrash Colo Colo in the Copa Libertadores
Fortaleza crushed Colo Colo 4-0 on Tuesday, with goals from all four of their forwards: Breno Lopes, Marinho, Deyverson, and Juan Martín Lucero. That result puts the Brazilian side second in Group E of the Copa Libertadores, now sitting on seven points after four games.
Before halftime, the starting attacking trio had already done the damage: Breno Lopes opened the scoring in the 24th minute after a great solo run. Six minutes later, he picked Arturo Vidal’s pocket and set up Marinho, who fired one in from the edge of the box. Then, in the 39th minute, Deyverson made the most of a defensive blunder to slot home the third.
Lucero sealed it and Fortaleza close in on the last 16
In the second half, Colo Colo tried to respond — they even had a goal ruled out in the 69th minute — but Fortaleza never really lost control. Off the bench, Argentine striker Lucero put the icing on the cake in the 85th minute after a pass from Pochettino and a calm finish into the bottom corner.

The game was played at the Arena Castelão, where Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s men were in charge from start to finish. With this win, Fortaleza are now level on points with Racing Club, who top the group on goal difference.
This match also marked the reunion of Argentine coaches Vojvoda and Almirón, after that controversial game in Chile that ended with a pitch invasion and Conmebol awarding the win to Fortaleza.
Now, Colo Colo, stuck at the bottom of the group with just two points, need a miracle if they want to keep their hopes alive for the round of 16.
