LIVE! AS FAR vs Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League on beIN SPORTS
Matchday 2 of the 2025–26 CAF Champions League group stage promises high intensity as AS FAR take on Al Ahly, a showdown loaded with pressure, confidence and bold statements from both benches. After an opening round filled with goals, surprises and displays of power, Group B prepares for a decisive battle in the race for first place.
AS FAR Look to Rebound in Front of Their Home Crowd
Head coach Alexander Santos made it clear that his team will not abandon its style despite the quality of the opponent. “We will stick to our identity, knowing we’re facing a team that can trouble us at any moment,” he said. For the Moroccan side, the first match left mixed feelings: they fell 1-0 to Young Africans in Dar es Salaam but showed character and competitiveness.
Inside the dressing room, confidence is absolute. Player Abdelfattah Hadraf didn’t hold back: “We are ASFAR. With our history and achievements, we feel we can face even Real Madrid. We come into this match with confidence and the ambition to show the true face of this team.”
Currently sitting third in the group with zero points, a home win would transform their outlook and reignite their hopes of reaching the quarterfinals.
Al Ahly Arrive With Authority and Unfazed by Pressure
On the other side, the African champions opened with a dominant 4-1 victory over JS Kabylie, a statement win that put them at the top of the group. Jess Thorup, the Egyptian club’s manager, shifted the pressure toward the opponent: “Everyone talks about the atmosphere, about pressure… For me, the real pressure is on AS FAR, because they play at home. We are used to these environments.”
The standout performer was captain Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, who scored a brace and addressed the role of referees in high-stakes matches: “We respect the officials. We know that in big games, one detail can change everything in a second.”
Al Ahly arrive in Rabat with six wins in their last seven competitive matches, backed by a deep, experienced squad determined to reclaim continental supremacy after last season’s setback.
A Decisive Battle in Group B
Here’s how the standings look:
- Al Ahly – 3 pts
- Young Africans – 3 pts
- FAR Rabat – 0 pts
- Kabylie – 0 pts
A Moroccan victory would tighten the group; an Egyptian win could begin to create early separation.
On Saturday, we will find out whether AS FAR’s belief can overcome the historical weight of Al Ahly, or if the African champions will reaffirm why they remain the most decorated club on the continent.
