For Angola, the equation is simple: only a win will do. After a 2-0 loss to a two-time champion and a 1-1 draw against Kenya, they have just one point from two matches. Coach Pedro Gonçalves knows there is no margin for error.
“We are calm as a team. The most important thing is to remain positive,” he said. “If we replicate what we did well against Kenya, we can compete with Zambia.”
Defender Joaquim ‘Quinito’ Balanga also urged his side to forget the past and focus on the present: “There’s no pressure, but we know we need a win. We want to stay in the tournament, and to do that we must give our best.”
Zambia Seeking Redemption
On the other side, Zambia arrives in Nairobi needing to bounce back after a 2-0 loss to DR Congo in their opener. Coach Avram Grant remains optimistic: “In football, there’s always a new day and new hope. We must forget what happened and give our all in this match.”
Captain Kabaso Chongo believes the team has found its rhythm: “The first game was tough, but we know where we went wrong. We know Angola, we’ve studied them, and we’re ready. This tournament is a huge opportunity, and we want to win game by game.”
