Joshua Kimmich believes Bayern Munich are on a "very good path" but stressed that "no titles are awarded in November" after they continued their perfect start.

Bayern earned a 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with Serge Gnabry and Nicolas Jackson both scoring before Loic Bade's own goal completed the first-half rout.

Vincent Kompany's side were much-changed, with Harry Kane, Luis Diaz and Michael Olise among the substitutes, but it did not stop them from extending their record-breaking start to 2025-26.

They have now won their first 15 matches in all competitions – since being promoted to the Bundesliga in 1965, the Bavarians had only achieved such a streak once before, winning 23 in a row under Hansi Flick in 2020.

But, even after moving five points clear at the top of the table with nine wins from nine in the league, Kimmich made it clear that they still need to build on their strong base.

"We are on a very good path – both in terms of football and as a team. You need this mix to win titles," he told Sky Sports Germany.

"The first half of the season is about putting yourself in a good position. And we're doing that very well. But we also know that no titles are awarded in November."

And Kompany was thrilled with how his players stepped up, noting how important it was to be able to rest players with Paris Saint-Germain up next in the Champions League.

"I am just happy with the three points," he told a press conference. "From this moment on, I am more confident of what the team can do.

"Obviously, we are better when Harry plays, but we will have a top-fit Harry against Paris.

"It felt like the moment for the other lads. Now we can go into that game without any fitness concerns. Tuesday [against PSG] will be the highest intensity you can have, the highest in Europe, I think."

Leverkusen, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat under Kasper Hjulmand and saw their record 37-game unbeaten run on the road end at the Allianz Arena.

They mustered just 0.12 expected goals (xG) and only had one shot on target throughout the game, with sporting director Simon Rolfes admitting Leverkusen have a long way to go before they can challenge Bayern at the top once again.

"Of course, we weren't the opponent we wanted to be. And also not the opponent we could have been," he said.

"Bayern are good, okay – but nevertheless we were overall too passive, too cautious and played with too much respect.

"We're going through a difficult period right now; some players are unavailable who would certainly have been an asset in a game like this.

"But we simply weren't brave enough and were too hesitant. And that's often the case – when you play cautiously, aiming for safety, it becomes more difficult. We should have applied some pressure, but we didn't."
