The 23-year-old has not played since the two preseason incidents and will miss Bayern Munich's Bundesliga opener against Stuttgart.

However, Kompany said Musiala was expected to take part fully in team training on Thursday as he continues to make progress toward his return.

The main update is that Musiala is responding well to the increased dosage of his medication, according to Bayern's head coach.

“That means he's getting used to the increase in medication and he's responding well to it,” Kompany said.

The coach also expressed confidence that Musiala will eventually return to competition, although any decision will be made together with medical specialists.

“He'll be back in the squad at some point and he'll play normally again, but of course we'll make that decision hand in hand with all the experts (doctors) and everyone else. But he's fine,” Kompany added.

For now, Bayern Munich has not set a specific date for his return to competitive action.

Musiala collapsed twice during preseason

The issue became visible during Bayern Munich's preparations for the new season.

Musiala first collapsed during a friendly against Leipzig on August 15 and suffered another episode three days later against Heidenheim, with both incidents occurring during preseason.

The midfielder later said he had been diagnosed with “absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction.”

Musiala also said there was “no additional health risk” and expressed his intention to continue playing as he had before.

Bayern was already aware of Musiala's condition

Kompany and Max Eberl, Bayern's board member for sport, said on August 21 that the club had been aware of Musiala's condition since at least the previous season.

According to the Bayern Munich officials, a change in the player's medication triggered the incidents that occurred during preseason.

“The task now is to adjust the medication again so that we get back to where we were before — a state in which he had been seizure-free for a very, very long time,” Eberl said.

The priority now is to continue that process and assess Musiala's progress before clearing him to return to competitive action.

While Musiala will not play against Stuttgart, his return to full team training and positive response to the medication adjustment are the latest encouraging developments in his path back to the Bayern Munich lineup.
