Guirassy Wants To Leave Dortmund as Europe’s Giants Circle
The Guinea international has reportedly decided to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, with clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona closely monitoring his special release clause.
Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy has reportedly made the definitive decision to seek a new challenge away from Signal Iduna Park this summer. Despite his outstanding scoring record and a contract running until 2028, the Guinea international is said to be unhappy with the team’s tactical direction under head coach Niko Kovac.
After two highly productive seasons in Germany, Guirassy has reportedly informed Dortmund of his desire to leave during the upcoming transfer window. The 30-year-old forward has become one of the club’s standout stars since arriving from Stuttgart in 2024 for €18 million, recording 59 goals and 15 assists in 95 official appearances.
However, according to reports from Sky Sports, the striker believes the team’s current playing style does not fully suit his strengths and is eager to test himself in a more demanding competitive project. Although he maintains a professional relationship with the coaching staff, tactical frustration is believed to have played a major role in his decision to move on.
Guirassy continues to shine individually as well. This season he has scored 16 Bundesliga goals, and his performances even earned him a nomination for the 2025 Ballon d'Or.
The situation is causing concern at Borussia Dortmund due to a €50 million release clause that can only be activated by a select group of Europe’s elite clubs. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are all reportedly eligible to trigger the clause. So far, none have submitted a formal offer, although several clubs are closely monitoring the situation.
In addition to those European giants, AC Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and Fenerbahce have also shown interest, though they would need to negotiate directly with Dortmund in order to complete a transfer.
