Bayern Prepare Massive Release Clause to Protect Michael Olise
Bayern Munich do not want to take any risks with Michael Olise’s future. The Frenchman has become one of the most important players in Vincent Kompany’s team, and although his contract still has several years remaining, the Munich club are already working to secure his long-term future.
Bayern’s intention is not to open the door for his departure. Quite the opposite. The objective would be to extend a contract that currently runs until June 2029 while also protecting the club against any potential attempts to sign him in the future.
Olise Has Become One of Bayern’s Biggest Stars

The 24-year-old winger arrived from Crystal Palace in 2024 and quickly went from being an exciting addition to becoming one of the biggest difference-makers in the Bavarians’ attack. He also finished as the competition’s leading assist provider, with only Harry Kane directly contributing to more goals.
His performances also carried over to the international stage. During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Olise recorded seven assists for France, equaling the record for most assists in a single edition of the tournament, and earned a place in the competition’s best XI.
With that rise has also come interest from outside Germany.
Liverpool Continue to Monitor Michael Olise
Olise’s name has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs in recent months. Real Madrid previously emerged among his potential suitors, although the Spanish giants ultimately moved away from a possible deal during the summer.
Now, Liverpool are one of the clubs continuing to monitor his situation.
That is precisely where Bayern’s strategy becomes important. A release clause that could reach €250 million would turn any attempt to sign Olise into a deal affordable to only a handful of clubs.
According to Falk’s report, even if an exit route is eventually included in the new contract, the price would be high enough to give the German club enormous financial power in the transfer market to find a replacement.
Bayern Want to Prevent the Contract From Becoming a Problem
There is no immediate urgency. Olise is under contract until 2029, leaving Bayern in a strong position.
The situation, however, could become more complicated further down the road. If the Frenchman reaches the summer of 2027 without signing an extension, the contractual clock would gradually begin to work against the club. That is why the priority is to resolve the winger’s future long before reaching that point.
A new contract accompanied by a massive release clause could provide a solution for everyone involved: Olise would retain a potential path to leave in the future, while Bayern would maintain financial control over any eventual departure.
For now, the Munich club have no plans to sell one of their biggest stars. The priority is for Michael Olise to remain one of the faces of Vincent Kompany’s project.
But if one of Europe’s giants wants to change those plans, they could face a price tag capable of making Olise one of the most expensive signings in soccer history.
