Yaya Touré’s first Champions League objective
Despite the advantage secured away from home, the tie is not yet decided. The second leg is scheduled for July 29, when Slovan Bratislava host Iberia Tbilisi.
For Touré, progressing from the tie would mean more than just a positive sporting result: it would represent the first major step in a coaching career that is only just beginning after he won numerous titles as a player.
A figure accustomed to the Champions League
Yaya Touré is very familiar with the demands of European competition. During his time as a Barcelona player, he was part of the team that won the Champions League in the 2008-09 season.
