Reinier Jesus Leaves Real Madrid Without Making His Debut: Failure or Mismanagement?
Reinier leaves Real Madrid after five years without making his debut. Signed for almost $35 million, he returns to Brazil with Atlético Mineiro to try to relaunch his career.
End of a period without minutes
Real Madrid has ended Reinier Jesus' time at the club. The Brazilian, signed for around $35 million dollars in 2020 as a promising young player from Flamengo, never made his debut with the first team and, after multiple unsuccessful loan spells, has terminated his contract. At 23, he will return to Brazil to join Atlético Mineiro, in search of a new opportunity to relaunch his career.
From promise to failed bet
Reinier was presented as the next great Brazilian talent, in the mold of Vinicius and Rodrygo. However, he never managed to establish himself at Castilla or at the teams to which he was loaned (Borussia Dortmund, Girona, Frosinone, and Granada). Neither injuries nor a lack of playing time allowed him to shine. He is now leaving the club without having played a single official minute with the first team.
Returning home
Atlético Mineiro would welcome him with open arms, confident that returning to his home country will be the ideal setting for him to regain his best form. With experience in several European leagues, he is still young and eager to prove that he still has a lot to offer in football.
Reinier joins other names who failed to live up to expectations under Florentino Pérez's leadership.
