More Details About Messi’s Injury Are Revealed but No Hints Are Given About How Long He Will Be Out for Inter Miami
Messi injury: Inter Miami confirms muscle discomfort and raises alarms ahead of Leagues Cup clash against Pumas
How serious is Messi’s injury?
Lionel Messi suffered a minor muscle injury in his right leg, as confirmed by Inter Miami through an official statement on Sunday, without specifying an estimated recovery time. The news comes after his early exit in the 2-2 draw against Necaxa in the Leagues Cup 2025, a match Inter Miami won 5-4 on penalties.

The Argentine star left the field in the 11th minute, visibly uncomfortable, sparking immediate concern among fans. Medical tests were conducted on Sunday to determine the extent of the injury.
Coach Javier Mascherano provided an initial assessment after the match:
“Leo felt discomfort in his hamstring. We won’t know the severity of the injury until tomorrow,” he explained in a press conference.
“He probably has something. It might not be too serious because he wasn’t in pain, but he definitely felt discomfort,” he added.
With five points in two matches, Inter Miami shares the group lead with Pumas UNAM, their next opponent this Wednesday in the final group stage match. Uncertainty about Messi’s physical condition keeps fans and the coaching staff on edge.
The moment he left the field
The number 10 left the pitch against Necaxa early in the match and was forced to exit due to what appeared to be a muscular issue.
His compatriot Federico Redondo replaced him against Necaxa.
Messi had provided two assists in Inter Miami’s first Leagues Cup match and was key in their last-gasp 1-2 victory against Atlas.
