Memphis Depay's Unusual Demands to Renew His Contract with Corinthians

The future of Memphis Depay at Corinthians remains uncertain. The Dutch forward, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, is looking to extend his stay for two more years, but negotiations have taken an unexpected turn due to a series of unusual requests that have complicated the discussions.
Although both sides remain interested in reaching an agreement, the demands made by the former FC Barcelona and Netherlands international extend far beyond a salary increase, making them the biggest talking point surrounding the Brazilian club.
An Unusual List of Demands
According to reports from Brazil, one of Memphis Depay's main requests is the exclusive use of a VIP suite at Neo Química Arena. However, that is far from the only condition the striker has reportedly placed on the negotiating table.
The forward has also requested that Corinthians make the stadium available to him for two days to host events organized by his own team, while allowing his staff to receive 50 percent of the revenue generated from those events.
Another demand that has attracted significant attention involves the future. Depay reportedly wants to receive a share of any prize money Corinthians earns if the club wins the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup, even if he is no longer part of the squad by the time the tournament takes place. According to the player, the request reflects the contribution he believes he has made to the club's rebuilding process.
Bonuses Remain the Biggest Sticking Point
While some of the requests are still being discussed, the Corinthians board has already rejected one of Memphis Depay's key proposals. The Dutch striker reportedly asked to receive 20 percent of the prize money awarded for every title won by the club, an idea the Brazilian side was unwilling to accept.
Instead, the club proposed a performance-based structure. To qualify for title bonuses, Depay would need to appear in at least 50 percent of the team's official matches while playing a minimum of 45 minutes in each appearance.
Negotiations remain ongoing, and no final agreement has been reached. As Corinthians works to retain one of its biggest stars, the outcome will depend on whether both parties can find common ground between the player's expectations and the conditions the club is willing to accept.
