Man sets fire to Cristiano Ronaldo statue
A disturbing video outside the CR7 Museum has triggered a police investigation in Madeira after a replica statue was set on fire.
The video that raised alarm in Madeira
A man identifying himself as “zaino.tcc.filipe” recorded and shared footage of himself setting fire to a statue of Cristiano Ronaldo located outside the CR7 Museum in Funchal, Portugal. The video quickly circulated on social media, drawing attention not only for the act itself but for the message that accompanied it.
“This is God’s final warning,” the man says in the clip, as flames briefly engulf part of the statue in a scene that also put him in visible danger.
A replica with a controversial past
The statue targeted in the incident was a replica placed outside the museum in 2016, after a previous version had been vandalized by fans. The monument sits next to one of Madeira’s most visited landmarks, dedicated to the island’s most famous son.
Cristiano Ronaldo, now 40, currently plays for Al-Nassr FC in Saudi Arabia and remains a global icon whose image is closely tied to the region.

Police confirm suspect has been identified
Authorities in Madeira confirmed that the individual responsible for the act has already been identified, though no arrest has been made at this stage.
A police source told local media: “The suspect has been identified. He is not an unknown figure, as he has been involved in similar incidents in the past.”
Who is ‘zaino.tcc.filipe’?
On Instagram, the man describes himself as “a human being, a freestyle artist and a local.” His online activity and the tone of the video have raised further concerns, prompting authorities to continue monitoring the situation.
