José Mourinho’s Warning to Club América About Their Potential New Signing: He Doesn’t Train and Is Overweight.
José Mourinho harshly criticized Allan Saint-Maximin, a potential signing for Club América: “He doesn't train, he arrives late, and he's overweight.” Will the club take the risk?
Mourinho warns América about Saint-Maximin
Club América is about to sign a blockbuster deal with Allan Saint-Maximin, a French striker from Al-Ahli, in a deal worth close to $12 million. However, before the official announcement is made public, statements by José Mourinho, his former coach at Fenerbahçe, have generated considerable controversy.
“He's overweight, he arrives late, and he doesn't train.”
Mourinho didn't hold back at a recent press conference:
“In the last three months, I've never seen him train four days in a row at the same level as his teammates. If he doesn't train well, if he arrives late and is overweight, he needs a lift to get upstairs because he gets tired very quickly climbing the stairs.”
These words cast doubt on Saint-Maximin's professionalism, who arrived on loan at Fenerbahce and has now returned to Al-Ahli before being tempted by América.
Club América makes a bold move: contract until 2029
Despite the controversy, the Águilas plan to sign him to a four-year contract with an option for an additional year. The deal is shaping up to be one of the most expensive in the Mexican market.
