Jorge Jesus Leaves Al Nassr After Fulfilling Promise to Cristiano
The Portuguese coach confirmed his departure after leading Al Nassr to the Saudi league title alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
Al Nassr’s Saudi league triumph produced one of the most emotional moments of the season, with Cristiano Ronaldo breaking into tears after winning his first major title in Saudi Arabia. However, the celebrations were also marked by an unexpected farewell.
Jorge Jesus officially confirmed that he will leave Al Nassr at the end of the season. The Portuguese manager announced his departure shortly after his team secured the league title with a dominant 4-1 victory over Damac in the final round.
“I accepted this challenge only because I told Cristiano: ‘I will help you become champion, we will win the trophy, and then I will leave.’ That’s it. For me, the mission is complete,” Jorge Jesus said after the match.
His spell at Al Nassr will be remembered for ending the club’s seven-year wait for a league title. He also guided the team to the AFC Champions League 2 final, helping build a highly competitive squad featuring stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané, Kingsley Coman, and Íñigo Martínez.
The veteran coach, known for his successful stints with clubs like Benfica, Sporting CP, and Flamengo, first arrived in Saudi football in 2023 to manage Al Hilal, Al Nassr’s biggest domestic rival. After two strong seasons there, he switched sides and immediately delivered silverware to Cristiano Ronaldo’s team.
Now both Al Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo will begin a new chapter without the coach who fulfilled exactly what he promised from day one.
