Cristiano Ronaldo Wants to Recruit Mason Greenwood to Take Al-Nassr to the Next Level
This isn’t just a whim. Cristiano Ronaldo wants to lift trophies again with Al-Nassr, and he already has his next star target in sight: Mason Greenwood. Former teammates at Old Trafford, they could soon reunite in Saudi Arabia.
Greenwood, CR7’s next big signing
Cristiano Ronaldo is not content with just being the face of the Saudi Pro League. He wants trophies—and he’s determined to build a team around him that can deliver. After the arrivals of João Félix, Al Jaber, and Al Sharari, he’s now aiming higher: Mason Greenwood, his former Manchester United teammate, is the next name on his list.
The 22-year-old English forward just completed a brilliant season with Olympique de Marseille, netting 21 goals and providing 6 assists in Ligue 1, helping the French side qualify for the Champions League. His performances have caught the eye of clubs like Inter Milan, but Ronaldo’s project at Al-Nassr could tilt the scales.
Pressure from Saudi Arabia… and hesitation in Marseille
Saudi clubs have had their eyes on Greenwood before. Last summer, he turned down offers to continue his development in Europe. But now, the ambition of Cristiano Ronaldo, the visibility offered by Al-Nassr, and the financial stability of the move might persuade him to reconsider.
Marseille, however, won’t let him go easily. They want to keep him, but if a transfer happens, they’d have to give 50% of the fee to Manchester United, his parent club. Even Getafe, where Greenwood played on loan during the 2023-24 season, would be entitled to a cut.
The race to dominate Saudi football
Meanwhile, Al-Nassr’s rivals are strengthening. Al Hilal have already secured Theo Hernández and Kaio César. Al Ahli, the reigning Asian Champions League winners, added big names like Galeno and Ivan Toney. And although Al Ittihad has yet to act, they are waiting for elections to shape their market strategy.
In this context, Al-Nassr needs to make a statement. And if Cristiano Ronaldo manages to bring in Mason Greenwood, it won’t just be about adding goals—it will be a clear message: he’s not done winning yet.
