Cristiano Ronaldo Tipped to Become Portugal Manager After Retirement
At 40 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo remains one of the most competitive athletes in the world. His recent contract extension with Al-Nassr will keep him playing until at least the age of 42. However, retirement is inevitable, and many are already imagining what CR7's life will be like once he hangs up his boots.
Could Cristiano become Portugal's next coach?
Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen is among those who believe the Portuguese star could take over the reins of the Portugal national team. Meulensteen says Ronaldo's dedication and hunger for success would serve him well on the sidelines. "If Cristiano decides to become a coach, heâll carry many of the same qualities that made him a football legend," he told Poker Strategy. âHe might start at a club like Al-Nassr, but managing Portugal is a very real possibility.â
Although CR7 has not yet expressed a clear interest in coaching, the idea of leading his country has become more credible. However, for that to happen, Ronaldo would need a strong technical team around him. After all, managing is not the same as coaching, and the role requires more than just football knowledge â it also demands leadership, planning, and communication skills.
Meulensteen pointed out that Ronaldo could also emulate stars like David Beckham or Ryan Reynolds and invest in or own a football club. For now, that remains a possibility for the future.
Discipline to the extreme: the man behind the myth
Off the pitch, Ronaldo is known for his strict discipline â even bordering on obsession. According to CĂ©dric Soares, who played alongside him at Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup, CR7 was so focused on performance that he avoided 5G and Wi-Fi at night, believing it affected his sleep. "He told me, âDonât use 5G, itâs bad for your rest,ââ said Soares.
Ronaldo even went so far as to block Wi-Fi signals and leave his phone outside the room before bed. Though there's no strong scientific evidence about 5G impacting sleep, Ronaldoâs lifestyle is built around total control and meticulous routines.
This attention to detail extends to every aspect of his life: he follows a polyphasic sleep routine, avoids unnecessary screens, and has a private chef who designs every meal according to strict nutritional guidelines.
Cristiano Ronaldo is preparing for the future â whether on the bench or in the boardroom, his next chapter could be just as legendary as the one heâs still writing on the pitch.
